- Data shows Spotify is dominant outside of the US and UK, according to analysis presented this morning at The Podcast Show in London. The numbers from OP3 also suggests that the UK uses the most non-Apple/Spotify apps; and that Spotify has significant usage on iOS.
- The data was produced by Podnews and presented by its Editor, James Cridland, who also warned in his opening keynote that Spotify’s withdrawal from the IAB was concerning for the industry; that the BBC appears to now be fighting against the open podcast ecosystem it helped to establish; and that Podcasting 2.0 offers the industry a significant opportunity.
- Spotify has released its latest Global Podcast Trends Tour report, looking at the latest trends in podcasting. Among the findings:
- 63% of people asked said they trust their favorite podcast host more than their favorite social media influencer.
- Globally, average daily streams of video podcasts are up 39% on Spotify.
- Simplecast is now “Simplecast by AdsWizz”, integrating AdsWizz monetisation with podcast hosting. The company has launched a new Simplecast Professional Tier which combines the two.
