Clare Connelly is the bestselling author of more than 120 angsty, passionate romance novels. Having self-published her first book in 2014, by the end of that year, she was an Amazon All-Star in the US and UK and has since sold millions of copies of her books. A Hybrid author, Clare also writes her trademark romances for Harlequin and Tule.

After many years of rejections, Clare decided to self-publish and did so in the most basic way possible. By copying a Mills and Boon format in look as well as writing style she hit the ground running by having more books ready to go. A true outlier, by the end of that year she had 4 books published and got the Amazon All-Star tags as well as earning 5 figures.

Self-belief is certainly top of her list to achieving your goals, but she had done extensive research on writing blurbs (reading about 100!) and tropes, and knew who her ideal readership was.

The biggest takeaways is that success can be about timing, but doing the hard work before you publish will undoubtedly help success come sooner.
