Join as Megan Keane shares with us the good, the bad and the fun of being a community manager. When starting a new community or taking over an established community, one of the key things to think of is, “what is the purpose of the community?” You’re thinking of your motivations and, whether you’re a nonprofit or not, you’re going to have goals, but what’s going to motivate the community? What do you want the focus to be on? Keep in mind the community isn’t going to share your business goals. Plus, all communities should have guidelines, and it’s going to be different depending on who you’re talking to and what the focus is. Most of guidelines will have items such as, “be civil.” Also, keep in mind what’s going to create a safe space that is going to encourage members to share and be a part of the community?
