How sudden fame in Music changes your social media profiles and mental health
Suzzana Dee joins me today to talk about social media and the music industry. We talk about her return to the industry after ten years so Suzanna really has a before and after understanding.
We discuss how the sudden rise to fame for young people can bring about challenges from social media and how this can impact on a persons social media profiles, families and mental health.
"Suzanna Dee is back with a bang! After a brief hiatus from the music industry, Suzanna returned to the public eye in 2017 to relaunch her musical career. Two prime-time TV shows later…she was selected out of thousands to be part of ‘The 100’ judges for the BBC1 TV show ‘All Together Now’ featuring Spice Girl, Geri Horner and top comedian, Rob Beckett. She was also approached to re-join the lovely Jane McDonald’s team as a backing vocalist on her new Channel 5 TV show ‘Jane and Friends’ which also gave opportunity to perform backing vocal duties on the show for the likes of Alexander O’Neal and Tony Hadley.
Suzanna is probably best known for her Top 40 chart hit, a dance version of ‘Show Me Heaven’ which hit the commercial charts back in 2003, launching Suzanna as a dance powerhouse vocalist which then saw a number of collaborations and solo single releases follow this success. Suzanna’s tracks have appeared on numerous compilations including for Ministry of Sound, EMI and Decca Dance.
Suzanna unleashed her brand new single ‘A Song I’m Going To Write’ in early 2017 which stormed into the number 8 position in the UK Dance charts. The track was written by Charlie Mason, who is best known for writing the winning Eurovision song ‘Rise like a Phoenix’ by Conchita.
Later in the year, Suzanna returned to song writing duties and co-wrote the next single ‘Fallen Angel’ with trance legend DJ Rene Ablaze, released through the reputable label Black Hole Recordings. The track rocked the Beatport charts on release and landed at the number 25 position. Further tracks have already been written and recorded ready for release in 2018 with a number of internationally acclaimed producers who have been associated with Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold and Ian Van Dahl to name but a few.
Keen to continue her support of the LGBTI community which has lasted over 20 years, Suzanna was instrumental to the release of a charity single for ILGA-Europe, a reworking of the PWL Sybil classic, ‘Stronger Together’. The track featured some of the hottest vocalists in the industry including Sybil, Sam Bailey, Soraya Vivian and Angie Brown – and Suzanna herself of course! The release stormed straight to the number 1 spot of the iTunes UK Vocal Album Chart and into the number 74 position of the main iTunes chart – a great success for such a worthwhile cause.
In her past career, Suzanna established her name not only as a lead artist, but also as a session vocalist having recorded with the likes of the Spice Girls, S Club 7 and Billie Piper, to name just a few – including vocal arrangements and co-production on one of the Spice Girls album tracks ‘Right Back At Ya’.
Suzanna is currently working with UK Universities to change the national Music Curriculum due to the dilution of so many talent exploitation from a social media perspective but working with the powerhouse of music individuals who have had a decade of experience, to enable to change the face of the Music Industry for the next generation. She is also guest lecturer at the Universities and also an empowerment to global choirs all around the world to enforce from a mental health perspective, why singing is valid and important from all walks of life and able to change peoples lives! She's a chef ambassador for World Peace Day choirs helping 'One Day One Choir' who have over 2 million singers globally alone this year.
Suzanna's approach is honest and fair but has had all walks of life thrown at her from the Music Industry to do what she does today... helping those in music but more importantly change the mindsets of others and probably being the Mum of Music"
