Music:Music Commentary
Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill with Ben Schwartz
We talk about EVERYTHING: Lauryn Hill, T-Pain, naming your mix tapes, Snopes, Ben Schwartz’s leaky Chevy (oil leak? Nope! Rain!) karaoke, admitting that “Greatest Hits” and “Best Of” albums are great, the idea you can know the lyrics to a song for all your life and never know what they mean and, of course, The Darkest Hour. We do NOT discuss Stevie Wonder. We simply don’t have time.. Well he comes up twice. We find out how shuffle enhances the enjoyment of the music familiar to you and how it’s proven by science - Ben’s science. Not kidding, it was the subject of one of his papers as a Psych/Anthro major. Also, by googling billboard’s weekly charts for a particular song that’s clearly very important to one of us, you can find out, down to the month, when one of us had sex for the first time. This week on This Particular Song: Billy Joel’s “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” and “Jersey Girl” by Tom Waits.
