Chanhee and I discuss a paper she wrote about the troubles the church has in dealing with the intersectionality of human identity including race, gender, sexuality, nationality and ethnicity. We focus in on korean immigrant churches structures of power and then to the purpose of church writ large. Can church be a home for minority peoples and how can it be when it preaches problematic ideologies from the pulpit and perpetuates hegemonic norms that regulate and create “otherness?”
