On his own, Ian has scored feature films such as the Disney film Lilly the Witch: the Dragon and the Magic Book, Operation Endgame, and Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia, One of Ian’s most recent original scores is for AN INTERVIEW WITH GOD, starring Academy Award nominee David Strathairn.
The film centers around the character of journalist Paul Asher who, while covering the war in Afghanistan captured some of the best stories of his young career. But that endeavor ends up costing him so much more than he ever could have calculated. Upon returning home, Paul struggles to deal with the after-effects of his experiences, a failing marriage, and his dying faith. Not knowing where to turn, Paul dives deeply into the story of a lifetime—an interview with a mysterious man claiming to be God.
In this episode, Ian Honeyman shares about how he managed writing and recording this score with a tight turn-around time. While balancing his deadline, Honeyman also reveals how he still managed to give his score a unique, organic sound through resourceful decisions like employing his wife for vocal work as well as a Mongolian horse-head fiddle which was given to him by the Chinese, metal band, Voodoo Kung fu!
