Some broken relationships… You have acquired some failures that you just can’t get rid of. Maybe there is some stuff you know you shouldn’t have because it’s not good for you. Like some old batteries that are leaking acid and corrosion all over everything else in your life. Someday… Someday you tell yourself you will deal with that drawer where you have shoved all the junk in your life. In fact maybe every New Year you get it out and throw that habit, that anger, that addiction, that sin, into the trash. Only to find it back in your drawer within a week. This Is The Year! Some people are better at hiding it. They have organizers and shelfs and more drawer space. But that junk is still buried somewhere. Others don’t have enough room to hide it so everyone knows what kind of junk they carry. It’s just out in the open. Some of us even pay for a location to hide it every month. A storage unit. We pay rent for things we probably don’t need. It cost something to keep it hidden. It eats away at your soul’s bank account. It drains you slowly. Romans 7:15-20 Divide between your will and your actions. Law of Gravity (Air Plane)Flesh is where your sin resides. Flesh- The selfish nature that resides in each of us. The ability to be tempted means it’s there. It craves things. It craves gossip in the form of tabloids, the latest rant on Facebook, TMZ, or even negative talk about people in church, It craves gluttony in the form of 10 Christmas cookies, It craves lustful pictures or videos or books. Concrete, Solid, Clear,Galatians 5:19-21Fruits of the SpiritGalatians 5:22-26Galatians 5:1616So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.19When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.22But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
