won my first writing competition at 13, began freelance writing part-time in my thirties -- with a concentration on screenplays and video documentary scripts -- and published the first of six romantic mystery novels upon retirement from teaching.
I have taught English, speech, drama, creative writing, and writing for the media for students 5th grade (about age 11) through college. I have also done some editing for other writers, but that's not as much fun as making up stories, so I only edit for very special friends.
My schtick is my passion for entertainment that is exciting, stimulating, and amusing without offensive material. My books are humorous and full of romance and suspense, and are enjoyed by readers from middle school age through Medicare age. I'm fond of the quote from Michael Medved, film critic, who said, "Nobody ever came out of a movie saying, 'It was good, but they just didn't use the F word enough.' "
With a few days' notice, I can put together some talking points on any writing-related topic you like. If you have sample questions, I would love to prepare amusing and edifying responses for your listeners. I can speak from experience about self-publishing, and I have also had experience with landing an agent and submitting to studios and publishers.
