Episode 14 sees Andy and Alex together again in NZ and takes us all the way back to 1963-64 and the groundbreaking debut of Doctor Who's deadliest foes: the Daleks! They recall what it was like seeing the story for the first time in 1990 and how it compares almost 30 years later.
As ever they explore crucial aspects of the plot, such as: Where are all the farmer Daleks?; Why do neutron bombs take 23 days to deploy?; And what exactly are anti-radiation gloves?
They also decide that the story should be known as The Dead Planet, worry about the morals of the Doctor and Barbara, and are most impressed that Ganatus pre-empts the ending of Warriors of the Deep some 20 years early.
Elsewhere they welcome the Cailleach as she prompts them to consider previous Hall of Fame votes, and Alex challenges Andy to a tough backwards quiz.
All this, the glorious Tom Petty theme tune to the Amazon original drama The Romanoffs anthology series, and very little diddling about.
With shout-outs to Pip Madeley and Elton Townend Jones.
This episode is dedicated to Doctor Who fan and lovely human being Paul Condon.
Thank you lovely listeners.
