We are here to telling stories about what Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS) has meant to us and our guests. The conversations are around the trails, the challenges, the outcomes, and the lessons learned.
The conversations are real, raw and uncensored from both the survivor and caregiver perspectives.
Through the podcast we aim to:
In today's episode, Terry and I get to speak with Brittany and Samantha about their journey with PCS.
Brittany had the most recent injury while at work. As we learn in the conversation, this is her 8th concussion, but her first time struggling to recover.
Brittany is a nurse and she tells the story of how she was injured while on duty, and some of the obstacles she has faced during her recovery. She was fortunate to have a great support system. She and Samantha do a good job of explaining what that looked like.
Just as importantly we are excited to gain Brittany's life partner Samantha perspective as a caregiver. Samantha explains how she doesn't particularly care for the term caregiver, how she saw her role in Brittany's recovery and what she did to help herself throughout .
Samantha has been on this journey for close to 3 years now with Brittany. Terry and I were both interested and thrilled to get her take as well.
I'm happy to say the Brittany and Samantha feel like they are in a good place now and talk about it a bit as well and offer a good deal of hope for all those going through these experiences.
Please note that Terry and Drew are not medical professionals nor should their perspectives be taken as medical advice.
