The Richmond Vampire and The Church Hill Tunnel
When I was in Richmond, Virginia, I fell in love with the history and legends of the city. Rooted in history, the city is known for the train that used to deliver goods through town and the James River. One of the first urban legends that I fell in love with is the story of the Richmond Vampire. In 1925, the 231 locomotive was caught in the Church Hill tunnel when it collapsed. A few people made it out, but when Benjamin F. Mosby got out, the site was one that was horrific! On lookers said his flesh was burning and his teeth looked like fangs. Thus beginning the story of the Richmond Vampire.
