The message was delivered on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry, at the Humanist Service. DESCRIPTION Did you know that nearly 91,000 people were removed from the voter rolls in Oklahoma this past April? Jason Nichols, an instructor of political science at Northeastern State University, and former mayor of Tahlequah recommends we all double check our registration with our county election board to be sure we will able to vote in upcoming elections. One of the fundamental principles of our faith is the democratic process and the foundation of all our freedoms is our right to vote. Our justice team and ACTION leaders are inviting you to join with other local organizations and with congregations nationwide in voter registration, protecting voting rights and Get-Out-the-Vote drives. There are over 50 million people in the U.S.A. who are eligible to vote but who are not registered, and millions of registered voters who are infrequent voters. This Sunday, on the same Sunday as the UUA launches their #VOTELOVE campaign, we will launch our own campaign here at All Souls, #VOTELOVEBEYONDBELIEF. I need to know I have done all I can do to make our democracy strong. Let’s learn how to do democracy together.
