Rodney King is from the South Island of New Zealand, where he began teaching himself farriery. Within 10 years or so he was working at the biggest equine hospital in the world. I felt that that alone was worth interviewing Rodney to hear about.
We also discussed how taking the AWCF exam can change your perspective towards horseshoeing, the tangibility of credentials as a farrier, and where it can impact and benefit your business. Rodney gave us insights into working in an equine hospital environment, his thoughts on the causes of the increasingly common problem of Suspensory Ligament Desmitis in sport horses, the importance of diagnosis when treating horses, and much more interesting and useful information.
