Missouri Elk Season: Part 2 - Ep 3

In this episode, we have Aaron Hildreth with the Missouri Department of Conservation on to discuss elk in Missouri.  Aaron is a cervid biologist with MDC.  First, Aaron gives us a background about elk in our state from details that led to their extinction around 1886 to their big comeback starting about a decade ago.  He talks about everything that went in to the reintroduction process like getting buy in from citizens, disease testing, and the trials of moving the elk here.  There is also much more Aaron gives us about the science behind elk.

We also get into some of the details about the 2020 elk season in Missouri.  One big piece of information is that the application period is May 1st through May 31st.  So if you haven't put in your application for the lottery yet, it's time to do it.  We also talk about things like poaching, season dates, bugling, rifle calibers, and more.  This episode is packed with great information for anyone interested in hunting elk in our awesome state.
