You asked so here is a full episode based on the conversations that have been developing on Instagram @thatvetlifepodcast.
In the last week I put out two posts about resentment and inadequacy in the veterinary profession. The responses were astounding and the level of conversation that occurred in the contents was wonderful to see. Everyone was so edifying and I feel we got to share our thoughts about these two topics.
In talking about Resentment in the profession I mostly focused on talking about the importance of good mentorship and I did this through the lens of this idea of + - = mentorship. This was an idea I first heard about on The Colin and Samir Podcast. It's an idea about the types of mentors you should be looking for and how YOU should be acting as a mentor to those around you that I think we should be modeling more in the profession.
The second idea I discuss in this episode is dealing with the feeling of inadequacy and our good ole nemesis 'imposter syndrome.' While no one is immune to it there is a purpose to it. I discuss my own recent experience with feeling inadequate and I explore some of the ways we can not only better identify this feeling of inadequacy but actually use it to become better veterinarians.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this episode and continue the conversation. Leave your thoughts in the reviews on Itunes or comment on this post on Instagram or Facebook.
