Week 2 of the Proverbs 31 Woman Series is a sit down with Katy McCown. Katy reminds us in this episode that we can't skip over parts of God's word that we don't feel relates to our realities, The Word isn't bound by time. She points us to the truth that the Proverbs 31 woman is a woman we must learn from, that's why God has her in His word. Lastly, Katy shows us in this portion of scripture that the Proverbs 31 woman's hearts position, preparation, and pursuit were all deeply tethered to The Lord.
- I originally thought of the Proverbs 31 as an unreachable standard. Then as The Lord convicted my heart I realized this is not at all what this portion of scripture is all about.
- We see that she is actually so relatable. She has pressures, she has plans, and she has people just like we all do.
- She is not a perfect person. There has only been one perfect person to walk this earth and that is Jesus Christ.
- She is not the standard to reach for. Jesus is the standard to reach for.
- The Bible is not bound by time. The Lord placed the Proverbs 31 Woman in His Word - we cannot skip over her.
- I started approaching the P31 woman with a lens of the heart behind the action and the motives behind the motions.
- Jesus did not die on the cross so we could try and be good enough.
- We can mimic her hearts position, her hearts preparation, and her hearts pursuit.
- She exchanges her fear of the future for fear of The Lord.
- We so often want to start with pursuit and then throw in preparation and position along the way.
- Proverbs 31:10 - An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
