Eight months sober though does it count if you probably suffer from gluttony and not from alcoholism? #44
Gluttony (Latin: gula, derived from the Latin gluttire meaning "to gulp down or swallow") means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items, particularly as status symbols. In Christianity, it is considered a sin if the excessive desire for food causes it to be withheld from the needy.
Called one of the seven deadly sins, gluttony is characterized by a limitless appetite for food and drink and overindulgence to the point where one is no longer eating just to live, but rather living to eat.
An alcoholic is someone who has a physical and mental dependence on alcohol. We here at Castle Craig view alcoholism as a brain disease. Alcoholism is a serious psychological illness defined as the inability to stop drinking despite potential or actual, negative consequences.
A person who eats and drinks excessively or voraciously. a person with a remarkably great desire or capacity for something: a glutton for work; a glutton for punishment.
Noun. 1. SYNONYMS. gourmand, gourmandizer, overeater, gorger, binge eater, big eater. informal pig, greedy pig, hog, gutbucket, gobbler, guzzler.
“These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren” (Proverbs 6:16-19)
