Part 1: (0:00- 1:39)
Returning guest Adam Feuerberg joins Andy to discuss the sci-fi, action, drama "Star Trek: First Contact." First Contact is in its' 25th year (1996), and is the personal favorite of both of these men for a long list of reasons. Star Trek is important to Andy and Adam as it is about humanity, our potential, and our quest to be better as we move into the future. First Contact champions the franchise so well, speaks about humanities expanding beyond Earth and exploring the stars, and widened the fan base for the big screen. After the capitol attacks on January 6, 2021, this film rings even more on the money as the United States democracy is challenged - very much like humanities past being threatened by the time traveling Borg. The Borg, a race of cybernetic zombies all linked together into a hive consciousness are a favored Trek villain. Although the Borg were invented in the 80s, they represent the dangers of social media and the internet if we don't allow our critical minds to resist the lies and group think. Is resistance futile?
