This week, your host Just Nate and Dennis K are on the road, sitting in person downtown Colorado Springs, CO at the Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation. We talk to Patrick Barrett CEO and Rich Burchfield the Executive Director at the Campus.
There is so much going on at the campus, even with the world in turmoil. The Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation is currently in the middle of a major expansion and they talk about their plans for the next 5 years to expand in 6-10 additional campuses from coast to coast. First up is a new 8,000 sq ft campus at College Park in Maryland by April 2021, then by the first part of 2022 they plan on having a new facility opened across the street there with an additional 28,000 sq ft. The team talks about managing a new software factory called "The Forge".
Now at Colorado Springs Campus they have customers that include: AFRL, SMC which is soon to be Space Systems Command (SSC) and NIWC Pacific which is Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific. They also have a large Space Operations Center right in downtown Springs.
The University of Colorado System has reported that due to the Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation approx 1193 new jobs have been created directly due to the campus and those jobs had a Economic impact on labor by $89.3M. Patrick and Rich talked about the new expansion for Colorado Springs Campus may include 7 acres which will house an additional 400,000 sq ft of space - it is so exciting.
The team talks about many additional things going on or about to happen, one thing to watch out for is Digital Engineering/Digital Transformation will be the new focus from the military's standpoint.
