The Chey and Pav Show: Teachers Talking Teaching
Education:How To
In this Amplify & Inspire episode of The Staffroom Podcast, Chey and Pav talk to Pamala Agawa, Vice Principal in the York Region District School Board, and disruptor of Education from Ontario, Canada. They talk to Pam about the importance of learning and knowing language within the Indigenous Community, and how we need to be placing more importance on carrying on the stories told by ancestors, as there is so much to be learned about culture and community through the words spoken by the members of the community. Pam also discusses what it means to be a disruptor in education, and how she came to a position in her career and life to be able to do that, with the support of the other strong women doing the same around her. Pam talks about why it's so imperative for educators to be able to do that, but in a safe and protected way.
Listen to Pam talk about the importance of Language and how we can fully start to bring it to the forefront so that Indigenous students can feel empowered, recognized and successful. Listen to find out more from Pamala in this great Amplify and Inspire talk.
