Al Jean The Simpsons Showrunner

For my ONE YEAR anniversary show I am joined by The Simpsons showrunner, Al Jean. Al discusses how meeting Mike Reiss and joining the Harvard Lampoon changed his life path from doctor to one of the most renowned comedy writers and showrunners in TV history.  

 

Al Jean is the executive producer/writer of The Simpsons for 32 years and showrunner for 22 seasons. Prior to The Simpsons Al was a writer for the National Lampoon, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Alf, and It's Garry Shandling Show. After being hired as one of the first writers for The Simpsons Al departed and created The Critic, w/Jon Lovitz. Upon returning to The Simpsons for Season 10 Al took on the role of showrunner/executive producer starting with season 13 and just concluded The Simpsons 32nd season (season 33 & 34 are already renewed). Al Jean and I discuss The Simpsons in great detail including what makes the show so special, the predictions, and so much more. Join me for this amazing discussion with animation royalty.
