I recently posted a photo that went viral.
There have been a lot of conversations in the past few months about lumber prices. Tons of stats were being thrown out but nothing was resonating with people.
Then, I had an idea...
I called my lumber supplier and asked him to help out.
In the picture, I showed how much $1000 of lumber looked like in September of 2020 vs. May of 2021.
It went completely viral! 700+ shares of Facebook over 100,000 views, 7,300 retweets on Twitter, 7000 views on LinkedIn, and even shared by comedian Rob Schneider.
People needed to see a visual. People need to see things in terms they can understand.
Here are the numbers:
September 2020 $1000 of lumber = 100 2x4's and 33 sheets of OSB
May 2020 $1000 of lumber = 30 2x4's and 10 sheets of OSB
So the saying goes a picture is worth 1000 words, a viral picture is worth hundreds of thousand views.
This picture is making a difference! It has opened up new conversations with our elected officials and it has given a visual to people to tell a story.
If you want to help use the hashtag #fixlumber and post or share the picture. Here are the links:
