In this episode of Ready to Retail, we spoke to Michelle Keem, our Sustainability Manager for Packaging, Waste and the Circular Economy, about a new soft plastic recycling program Australia Post has been piloting over the last couple of months.
We also wanted to chat to someone who’s been a little more ‘boots on the ground’ with this pilot program, so we gave Paul Marquis, the Licensee from Berry Post Office a call.
Berry Post Office has been part of the pilot program for the last couple of months, and Paul has some insights into how his local community found the pilot program, and why he thinks Australia Post’s investment in a sustainable future is worthwhile.
Australia Post is Australia’s largest retailer and electric vehicle fleet operator for last mile delivery. We have a crucial role to play in building a sustainable future, and as one of Australia’s most trusted brands our power to make a positive difference is more important than ever.
As you will hear, at the Prime Minister’s Plastics Summit in 2020, our EGM for Customer and Community, Nicole Sheffield pledged that by this December, our entire plastic satchel range will contain recycled plastic.
For over 200 years, we’ve provided access to essential services that connect people, businesses and communities across Australia, and to the world. As our country and communities have grown, we’ve been there.
Our Corporate Responsibility Plan, underpinned by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, reinforces that our commitment to operating ethically and responsibly is driven by a long-term vision to create value for the community in decades to come.
