The Fundraising Talent Podcast
Business:Non-Profit
246 | Is the fundraising community reaching for aspirations higher than the dollars raised?
Holly and I share the belief that fundraising is world-changing work. We also share the opinion that what is expected of partners such as Good Works has fundamentally changed. No longer will our sector tolerate the perverse incentives that have historically driven the profitability of her competitors. Today’s standards are higher. What was most evident to me, and what every client deserves, is a partner who will jump into the fray; bring everything they have to the table; and, no matter how messy the process, allow the tension to inform remarkably effective fundraising strategies.
This is the first of two conversations I’ve had with the founders at Good Works. Both conversations demonstrate to me an awareness that the world of fundraising is reaching for aspirations that extend beyond the dollars raised. In order to achieve such aspirations; such as more diversity among those on either side of the exchange, we’re going to have to abandon our deep-seated needs for efficiency, predictably and control. I’m excited to see that values-based shops like Good Works are moving to the forefront and helping their clients deliver on these aspirations.
As always, we are very grateful to our friends at CueBack for sponsoring The Fundraising Talent Podcast.
