Sri Rudram is a Vedic hymn chanted in praise of Rudra, a fierce form of Shiva. It is found in the Taittriya Samhita of Krishna Yajur Veda. Sri Rudram is chanted to transform the fierce form of Shiva to a peaceful form and gain his abundant blessings for cleansing sins and wish-fulfillment. This prayer has two parts with each divided into eleven sections. The first part has verses ending with the term “Nama” and hence this part is named ‘Namakam’ or ‘Rudram’. The second part is named ‘Chamakam’ as the verses end with “Cha Me” which means “let this be granted to me.” Chanting or listening to Sri Rudram can de-clutter your mind of negativity, give clarity of thoughts, success, and bring relief from debts and problems in life.
