„Pripažinkite mus!“ – šaukė Pietų Afrikos LGBTQ+ bendruomenė XX a. pabaigoje. Šaukia ir dabar. Šalyje, kurioje prieš 24 metus Nelsonas Mandela pasirašė vieną progresyviausių visų laikų konstitucijų, įstatymas ne visada pajėgus apginti šią bendruomenę. Pietų Afrikos LGBTQ+ gyventojai pasakoja, kokia yra realybė šalyje, kurios Konsitucijoje – pirmojoje pasaulyje – buvo įtvirtinta lygybė seksualinės orientacijos atžvilgiu.

Šio teksto autorė yra Julija Stankevičiūtė, Kauno Veršvų gimnazijos abiturientė. Tai yra – vienas iš konkurso „Afrika nėra šalis“ laimėtojų. Jo metu dvidešimt Lietuvos moksleivių parengė originalius žurnalistinius pasakojimus apie Afrikos dabartį, siekdami parodyti žemyno įvairovę ir mūsų santykį su ja.
