TEC Talk Live! Intra-Cortical Visual Prosthesis Discussion with Dr. Lane and Dr. Troyk
In this episode of TEC Talk Live Cory and Luke, assistive technology specialists at Vision Forward Association in Milwaukee, are joined by Drs. Lane and Troyk from the Illinois Institute of Technology to talk about the Intra-Cortical Visual Prosthesis project.
This project aims to provide vision to people who are blind through the implantation of an electrode array on the visual cortex, which will stimulate the visual cortex when receiving data from a camera in a pair of sunglasses. The hope is that participants will gain back some usable vision, allowing them to identify basic shapes and objects around them!
To be eligible to be a participant in the clinical trials you have to be no light perception, between 18 and 70, be in the Chicagoland area, be well adjusted to your vision loss and have had vision up to the age of 10 or later. If you are interested in applying to be a participant in the clinical studies, first check out the video to find out all about the project, then email us at infocus@vision-forward.org.
