Hey listeners!
Claire takes the reins on the podcast today and tries to convince Tanya that she needs to embrace randomization in her life if not least to impart some insight into the benefits of randomising your life a little (or a lot)
This concept is something that Claire has been playing with for years in some form or another without knowing or identifying it as 'conscious' behaviour. She mentions the pivotal moment when she watched the Ted Talk by Max Hawkins just a few months ago which gave meaning to the concept of just doing things randomly for the enrichment it gave to her life.
You can listen to the Ted Talk here https://www.ted.com/talks/max_hawkins_i_let_algorithms_randomize_my_life_for_two_years There is also transcription for those who prefer to read their Ted Talks!
There is not a huge deal of info on the web about randomising your life with a positive twist to it. To find anything of interest really you have to search for phrases like 'how to make my life less boring', 'how to be more adventurous' and 'how to be more interesting'. But if you look you can find some cool websites that can at least act as an assignment generator, so you assign numbers to your options then get the website to randomly generate a number and you run with that option. It's a teeny bit long-winded because you have to use biases to generate the options in the first place! Anyhoo we think there could be a book in it so watch this space!
Check out Max Hawkins website https://maxhawkins.me/ for options to generate a random playlist on Spotify and some other cool features for randomising your life a little.
