Marita’s story began in her childhood growing up in a rural farm in South Africa, during Apartheid. From the separation of people of color, and the image held in her memory of people of color encircling the cemetery when her father was being buried when she was twelve years old, her life of work has been to bring people together with deepening understanding. The story continued to the last couple of years, when Covid has led to isolation. Yet, Marita shared an expression of connection with people in small ways that have a larger and long-lasting impact. What can each of us do to impact those around us, even if it might seem in small ways of support, connection, and joy?
