Sing 2 and Swan Song

The Hollywood musical tradition of saying "Hey, kids, let's put on a show" was given the animated feature treatment in "Sing," where the animal characters put on a show to save a small town's financially struggling theater, and now in "Sing 2" these animated critters take their talent to a Las Vegas-type city. In this podcast episode, HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano discuss this family-friendly film, whose vocal talent includes Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey and, yes, Bono. Marie and Mike also talk about "Swan Song," which has an intriguing science fiction premise about a terminally ill man who has a healthy physical clone made. Although Marie and Mike have various reservations about how this story is handled, they both admire the central performance by Mahershala Ali.
