How are you at persevering in your Christian walk lately? Merriam-Webster (the dictionary) defines perseverance as the “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.” The Apostle Paul spoke a lot about being steadfast in the faith throughout his letters to the early churches. In Philippians three, he wrote, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Just like runners who are striving to win a race, we need to focus on the goal line and use our training to help us run well. We must make growth in our spiritual lives a priority. We need to pray to God and read His Word, worship in our community of believers and spend time in true fellowship with them, and we need to tell others about Jesus.
