On this high-flying and butt-kicking episode of Movie And A Beer, we watched the 2004 classic Kung Fu Hustle. Co-written, directed, and starring Stephen Cho, this homage to the classic martial arts films from the '60s-'70s provides a great platform for the hero's journey from being the bad guy to becoming one with himself and helping those around him. Taking place in 1940's Shanghai China, the film follows a couple of wanna-be gangsters that learn that releasing one's chi is the gateway to enlightenment, even if it means being beaten to a pulp to achieve it.
While enjoying this fun film, we had a couple of draft beers that went head to head against each other. The first one was a red ale from Old Town Brewing (OR) and the second was a Pilsner from Crux Fermentation Project. (OR). Both were satisfying, but only one could be the winner. Listen in to hear all about these beers and this great Kung Fu movie.
