BUSINESS & THOUGHT LEADER EDITION
People tend to think leaders are born rather than made. However, leaders are no different from athletes. Even though some athletes have natural talents, it's their commitment to working on their craft every day that gets them to the top. Leaders may have innate talents - perhaps a higher EQ is one example - but everyone can develop the leadership skills necessary to perform at the highest level.
It can be difficult to pin down a simple definition of elite leadership, but we all know it when we see it.
What exactly defines an elite leader? How do they distinguish themselves from the rest of us?
Their mindset determines their success. There is a remarkable clarity about winning among elite leaders - for the company, for the team, and for themselves. Elite leaders have a constant drive to achieve their goals and reach the defined destination.
Their focus on winning revolves around having integrity between their words and their actions as well as their relationships with others. From moment to moment, it manifests itself in behaviors, choices, and decisions that benefit others rather than just themselves.
For Julie Hruska, elite leadership has six components that make them what they are: ENVISION, ENLIST, EMBODY, EMPOWER, EVALUATE, ENCOURAGE.
What separates elite leaders from bad leaders? Integrity, where their words and their actions align. People have become so jaded in the world and make promises that are empty and they don't keep. If you think about legendary leaders, they’re people that set a vision and then they honor that, they follow it through, and they become role models for other people.
Join us as Julie discusses who elite leaders are, their characteristics, and six components that make up the E6 Leadership Framework. With hosts, wealth manager Lee Michael Murphy, career advisor Sergio Patterson, and attorney Matthew McElroy tune in to this week’s episode of The Free Retiree Show.
