Okay. I think it's loading.
(00:08):
Okay. Always.
(00:10):
Okay. It looks like we're live. All right. Welcome everyone. I have Hael on with me. Heather's been in the handsome method for a little while, and I wanted to give you guys just more real life. Examples of success stories, because I think oftentimes when we're dealing with thyroid, when we're dealing with autoimmunity, we think can that happen for me, or that could never happen for me, or we have all these beliefs around it. And so one of my goals with interviewing people and having these conversations is so that you guys can see real life examples of other women struggling with the same things as you and how they have come through it or not come through it. So welcome. Pethel to today's. I don't know, show call.
(00:58):
Thank you.
(01:00):
Yeah, absolutely. So give everybody a little bit of background. Who are you, what do you do all of those fun things?
(01:08):
Well, I am a wife to my husband of almost 21 years, a mother of two boys. And I also work full time in I'm a VP of an industrial company, so it's high, high stress environment. And I study classical homeopathy on the side and kind of venturing into my wellness career path as a hobby. So yeah, that's where I'm at.
(01:41):
Yeah. Amazing. Well, and I love that you bring this background of homeopathy with you into, into everything that, that we're doing here in the Hanson method. So before joining the Hanson method, what were some of the FA what were the symptoms, what were some of the things that you were struggling with?
(02:00):
So I would say I've, I've been hypothyroid most of my life probably about 20 years. And that's all I was told you're hypothyroid, and you're gonna be on this pill for the rest of your life. And I started studying a little bit more into health and wellness over the last seven to eight years and kind of sparked questions in me, but I didn't really do anything about them. They were always in the back of my head until last year my cholesterol started spiking and I knew I was eating fairly well. Yeah. And I was like, well, why all of a sudden is my cholesterol going up mainly the triglycerides. And you know, I was told you need cholesterol in your body, but something may not be working in your body to process your cholesterol. So I decided to go to an endocrinologist and she she just felt the gland and she was like, you know what? I think you have Hashimotos, but let's do a test, a confirmatory test. So she did. And I was sad to find out that I have Hashimotos. Yeah. but it didn't stop there. I just kind of was like, okay, I got it now, what am I gonna do about it? What do I need to learn about it? Because obviously the difference with hypo and Hashimotos is one is autoimmune and I autoimmune the word autoimmune scares me.
(03:30):
Yeah. It, oh, for me,
(03:31):
Stresses me out. So that's where it kind of led me to you know, look into a holistic style of treatment, cuz I've always been interested in that in my family. There's homeo pads, there's Ibada, but they're all in the east, on the Eastern side of the world. So they're freely able to practice that, but here we're kind of confined to apathy and I wanted to find an alternative. So I started my seeking out of what can I do? What can I do for myself that doesn't require meds for joint pains or, you know, meds for the headaches or, you know, an antidepressant for the anxiety. Like, yeah. I, I didn't wanna be, I knew I didn't wanna go down that route. You know, I'm fairly young still. I like to believe and I have a long way to go and I don't want medicine to kind of dictate my lifestyle going forward.
(04:32):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Oh my goodness. There's so much there. I mean like good things, right. I think so quickly to touch on this for the, the listeners, the Watchers autoimmunity and Hashi or hypothyroidism Hashimoto's hypothyroidism are different. Right. They, they work in the body different. And so like you were saying autoimmunity, when I was struggling with that, I was like, ah, you know, or like, anyways, that's like a whole other story. I've shared it in other things. But when I thought it was Hashimotos, I was freaking out, right. I was very nervous because I knew what that meant for me long term. So that was, you know, all of the stress and feelings with that, but then also having my desire to not take medication and not be on medication for the rest of my life was also kind of pulling at me. And so I think that that is very relatable to, to a lot of people. So you were saying you had joint pain. Were you having headaches? What were like the symptoms that you were having?
(05:43):
So symptoms? Obviously it was a lot of, it was in the lab test that I was getting with the cholesterol. And then I, I did have brain fog every day at about three o'clock. I'd get a craving for sweets and I would just start yawning at work. I was just exhausted by three o'clock. And I, those were my main ones. There was weight gain. It wasn't crazy weight gain and that, wasn't one of my initial reasons for even seeking help, but I didn't feel good. I didn't feel good in my own skin. Yeah. And I knew something was off my skin was always dry. My lips were always dry. And something was off that Thato thyroxin that they put you on it, it wasn't really working. So then I was like, all right, well, I am Hashimotos so let's, let's kind of dive into this a little bit and see what it means.
(06:37):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So when you came in, you joined our four week program. Yeah. Right. I don't remember when that was
(06:47):
It was, I joined in March.
(06:50):
Okay. In March, March
(06:51):
Of this
(06:52):
Year. Okay, perfect. I'm glad you remember, cuz I don't I was gonna say like, we were talking about this earlier today and we were like, I think we did one in December, like November, December, and then we did one later in the year and I couldn't, I just couldn't remember anyways. But so you joined there and then you decided to continue your journey with us. So what was kind of that like tipping point for saying, okay, I wanna continue on with this.
(07:23):
Yeah. So the first four weeks, you know, I, I went in skeptical as everyone does. I'm gonna, I'm gonna invest in something. And I'm gonna invest my time into this too. I kind of saw the website and the program that you have us working on in journaling and all that. And as I got into it for the four weeks and especially the coaching calls, I was like, okay, I'm, I'm not only am I enjoying this, but I'm learning, I'm learning so much more than I would if I were to just Google everything myself. And it was, it was kind of comforting to know that I'm not the only one going through some of these symptoms. Some of my symptoms might be milder than others and some of mines might be a little bit more stressful than others, but everyone's kind of going through the same journey and that is to seek better health holistically and that comradery and the environment that's created by the coaches in your program being you, Chris, and whoever else we're gonna be speaking with.
(08:32):
It's, it's amazing. It's an amazing feeling. And so when my four weeks was finished and you emailed in me and said, okay, well, what do you wanna do next kind of thing. It was a no brainer for me. I was like, you know what, people, you gotta keep doing this. It's something that you're definitely benefiting off of. And I was still on my protocol too, and I wanted to see what else could happen. I was already feeling good changes in my body. Yeah, I was feeling a little more relaxed a little less stressful in how I was handling things. The protocols could, could be overwhelming at first, but the coaching calls kind of help you get through,
(09:15):
Well, you were probably on one of the toughest protocols, so we have to acknowledge that
(09:21):
Yeah, it, it was tough. It was definitely, you know, when you have to relearn the way that you've been taught to feed yourself and nourish yourself, you gotta rewire your brain too. yes. And it wasn't, it wasn't easy, but I was able to get through it because I had the Hanson method, family holding my hand. It was, it was great.
(09:46):
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Chris, we, we had our business meeting this morning and that's what we were all talking about is the family, you know, the it's like a family, you come into the family and for me, a family has always been like the most important thing. That's why I work from home. That's why I like don't have a career outside my home. Like my kids, my husband, my family is always number one. They will always be number one, nothing will come above that. Except for God. So , you know, there's kind of there's, there's that for me, but, and that's what I wanted to create with the Hanson method is this family, this community where you guys get to basically come into our homes figuratively speaking, I mean, I would have you guys at my house too, but you know, like bring you into this circle and, and get to know you, right. Connect with you, understand your lifestyle, understand your beliefs, understand who you are as a person so that we can make this part of, you know, what you need moving forward for you. So after going through that process, where are you now? How are you feeling? What has changed for you all of that?
(10:58):
So I have been feeling so much clarity over the last four months. I've changed my entire way of eating the way I look at food is a lot different. It's not necessarily oh my God, I gotta have this because that's what I'm used to eating and I'm craving this. I don't have the same cravings. In fact, I crave salads now, which is really unheard of. Yeah, it used to be literally four Hershey, miniature chocolates at three o'clock. Now I can go with an apple and I'm still satisfied. And if you look at the nourishment between the two, you know, you're putting good stuff in your body with the apple, right? Yeah. So the food combining techniques have really resonated and they've helped and I'm, I'm a big geek in that sense. I have to know why yeah. Why, why am I being put on this protocol? Why is this gonna help me? How you know, all of that stuff. And so I, I would do a little independent research, but there's like an encyclopedia in Chris and you where we just ask you guys and you have the answers. So it's nice. It's, it's nice to have that reference point that is empathetic as well, but still extremely knowledgeable about what y'all are doing.
(12:20):
Yeah. Well, and yeah, sometimes I'm like, Chris, Chris is my encyclopedia Hey, Chris, what about this? You know, or she, she knows, I don't know how she retains all of that in her brain. I'm like, hold on, let me grab a book. Let me look this up. I know there was something about this thing, you know, so anyways, Chris just has it all right there, but yeah. I love that. So is there any last thoughts, anything you wanna share with the, I'm gonna say Watchers, that sounds so weird. anybody following the line today?
(13:03):
You know, I would say one more added bonus that I got is I recently weighed myself and I've lost a total of 13 pounds and you seen almost 5% of body fat on my program. Wow. And that is, you know, when I, whenever I used to be on the scale, the pounds didn't bother me, but it was the body fat percentage that I would be arced by. Cause I was like, I work out, I do everything. Why is my body fat percentage still just it's unwavering. It's just right there. And the minute I did this protocol, and again, it wasn't in the first week. It wasn't in two weeks. I would say I started seeing my difference within about three to four weeks is when I really started feeling different making on the
(13:47):
Protocol
(13:48):
On the protocol. Yeah.
(13:49):
Okay. Yeah.
(13:49):
Yep. Making connections of realizations on the mindset side that it, that was, that's just a bonus, like, you know, to, to finally be able to align, you know, I'm a big believer that everything is holistic. You have, have to align your, your mind body spirit and to be able to bring all of that into alignment gradually and see that shift happening. That's, that's probably the biggest thing I've gotten out of this program so far. And I say so far because I'm, I'm gonna stay on it. I mean, yeah. It's, it helps. It definitely helps me out.
(14:27):
Amazing. just so everybody knows when you first come into the Hansen method, we have about four weeks where we're waiting for testing to come back. Right. So you're kind of on a box program, a cookie cutter, like everybody's kind of doing the same thing for the first four weeks. And then once we get your test results back, once we figure out, oh, Hey, this is really what's going on with Pethel or, you know, whoever it is then at that point, it is customized. And all of our clients go like, you know, in opposite different directions, but it's all customized to you, the supplements, the foods that you're eating, all of those different things. So for hel, she was working with us for about eight weeks doing the first part and then four weeks on her protocol is when she noticed the really big shifts in all of that body fat percentage, weight, those types of things. So, yeah. Thank you so much for sharing
(15:27):
The first. Yeah,
(15:28):
Go ahead. Go ahead.
(15:30):
The the first four weeks really helped because yeah, the first four weeks really helped me because it got me kind of into the mode and the right. I guess it, it just kind of helped guide me into the protocol process. So it wasn't like a dramatic shift. I was already kind of weaning my way into it and that was kind of nice because it wasn't a shock.
(15:54):
Yeah. Yeah. I got
(15:57):
. I would say we did that by design, but honestly that's just kind of how it ends up being with the labs. Yeah, but it, it works out like you're saying in favor of people because it's like, okay, you start drinking water. Okay. You start learning about food combining you start learning about, okay, these are the foods that really help support thyroid and hormone function. You know, these are the foods that are stopping that from working. And so you're, you're kind of gradually going into it. So then when we transition you, like you said, into your full protocol, it's like, boom, okay, I got it. Like, I understand what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. And I think Chris thinks we all kind of think that it helps increase compliance because you're already seeing the benefits kind of early on from it. So yeah. Yeah.
(16:49):
Love it. So, I mean, it, it, I, I can't thank you guys enough for no, all the guidance, all the support. You know, particularly my favorite part has been learning on the nutritional side of things because it's something that I didn't know about as much. And the mindset, the mindset it's just happened. It's crazy. It's nice. So thank you guys and your team.
(17:17):
Well, here's the thing, you guys do all the work. We provide you with the resources, but you still have to pick it up. You still have to put forth the work and the effort. So all of the accolades goes to, to you hel and to everybody else who is putting forth the time, the energy, the work, and investing in themselves. So you guys are amazing and you guys really make the handsome method. Great. without you guys, we, you know, it wouldn't be what it is. So, Yeah. All right guys, thank you so much. Courtney says so proud of, Hey, he so proud of how far you've come, enjoy listening to you and being on this journey with you.
(18:01):
Thank you, Courtney. I look forward to seeing you on the coaching call. Soon. I missed may start missing when I don't see them.
(18:11):
I know I, I kind of have withdrawals too, so yeah. All right. You guys,
(18:17):
It really does become family.
(18:18):
So, oh, go ahead. Go ahead. Sorry.
(18:20):
Yeah, no, no. It, what I said is it, it really does become your family. And you start, you start it's comradery. It's nice.
(18:30):
Yeah. Well, and you start to people share things on those coaching calls about their family, about their life, about who they are and, and you, you feel that connection with them and yeah, it's just you guys, it's a beautiful thing. You kind of have to come experience it for yourself. You know, there, there's not really words for it, but hel thank you so much for being here. I don't wanna take too much more of your time. If you guys have any questions for myself maybe if you have something specifically for hel, you know, go ahead and drop them here below and we will try to answer them. And we will see you guys in the next.
