Closing out the 8-part mini-series on time affluence for boosting happiness. The research indicates that when we feel like we have more time, we’re happier. This series dove into ways we can hack our brain to think we have more time, by being a little more intentional with our thoughts.

Welcome to Everyday Happiness where we create lasting happiness, in 2 minutes a day, through my signature method of Intentional Margins® (creating harmony between your to-dos and your priorities), happiness science, and musings about life.
I'm your host Katie Jefcoat and time affluence can be magic. It can be the first step to unlocking your happiness boost because it’s so tangible and practical.
The basic idea is that time is subjective and instead of running around thinking we don’t have time to do the things that are required of us, but instead, we take a step back and zoom out, and recognize when we have more time than we think. That’s where the magic is.
If we can diversify our time portfolio with the activities that have meaning, pleasure, and non-pleasurable, as humans, we’ll try to weave in more pleasure. That means, we may do less doom scrolling on social media (non-pleasure) and instead call a friend that brings you joy.
I invite you to protect your time by adding leisure time to your calendar, building in breaks, boundaries and transitions into your day.
We often think we need these big chunks of time to do things that bring us joy, but in reality, we’re just stealing moments. We don’t need to wait for the weekend to be happy - we can start today and boost our happiness in our time confetti.
