On this week’s show, champion cricketer and Latrobe boy Trent Keep. Most will know Trent as the prodigiously talented batsmen who scored tons of runs and was unlucky not to get a start with the Tasmanian Sheffield Shield side. This chat opens up another side to Trent which many don’t know, the young boy who based his self worth on whether he scored runs who eventually grew into a man who at times suffered with crippling anxiety and mental health issues. Trent speaks about his early initiation into cricket, successes and failures which both contributed to his struggles, his darkest days and how he coped with things. We speak about how moving to South Australia became a wake up call to his issues and how moving ‘home’ to Latrobe which first felt like a huge failure, ultimately led to him getting on top of things. This is a fascinating insight into how someone who can seem on top of their game, highly successful and confident can be struggling on the inside.
