NUSD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Through Literacy with Author Leticia Ordaz
Join NUSD this Friday as we learn more about Leticia Ordaz’s whimsical journey to becoming an award-winning author and the importance of reading stories in multiple languages.
Sacramento-based news anchor, Ordaz, wanted her young children to read about strong, diverse characters. When she noticed the lack of diversity, she began writing about positive/STEM related stories, with Hispanic protagonists.
Ordaz will also read her newest book, “The Carousel King and the Space Mission,” this Friday, September 30th, 6 pm, during NUSD’s “Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month Through Literacy” Event at Bannon Creek School.
NUSD will also provide food, folklorico dance, and a workshop on piñatas!
