October 12, 2022 - Hockey Canada’s Hubris; Algorithms ＞ Hashtags; Most Discriminated Against?

Now that its CEO and board have stepped down, what's the next step for Hockey Canada? How does the organization even begin to address the rot impacting the culture around our nation's favourite sport? Is the average Canadian prepared to have the tough conversations, some of which could hit close to home?

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre says he had no idea members of his team were using the controversial "MGTOW" tag on his YouTube videos...and he's probably telling the truth. But that's not the point. Public dialogue around this revelation seems to be missing the mark. Why should the average person care about the inner workings of platforms like YouTube? This story matters more than you might realize.

It didn't take long for newly-minted Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to step in one, claiming unvaccinated citizens are "the most discriminated-against group (she's) ever witnessed in (her) lifetime". We have to assume she'll dial back comments like that to preserve her chances of winning the general election in May 2023...right?
