Samaritans believed Jesus was the Messiah, and this revealed their genuine faith (4: 39-42). But the Galileans only received Jesus for His signs & wonders, and this reveals their superficial faith, for they were seeking more so to be sensationalized, rather than converted (hence vs. 44).
Through the recorded account of a royal official and his dying son, we explore a portion of Scripture (4: 46-54) giving us insight regarding faith in progress. And through this witnessed and recorded account we come to recognize Life in the Word of God, needing nothing more. The inspired Text leads us to a challenge, do we receive Jesus for Who He is, His Word? Or do we simply create a form of Christianity in the image of our own desires, finding vain fulfillment in a superficial commitment?
