Transcript:
Hey there. You're listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But today, I'm Angela Williamson taking over. I'm back again.
And Katie asked me this question. How do you prevent burnout by focusing on happiness in your business?
Well, there's only one way to do that. Set your intention and understand that sometimes when you have your own business or you have your own endeavor I always like to say endeavors.
Sometimes it's time for you to make a pivot and change. That's okay to do, because when you pivot, that is all a part of your legacy. I actually talk a little bit about in my recent book with these other amazing authors called Leading With Legacy.
One of the things I talk about is that sometimes in your legacy, you have to know when to pivot, because when you learn to pivot is when you make your greatest impact on the world.
One example that I use that I want to share with you is I learned that Rosa Parks had to learn to pivot. She was in Alabama, and that is where the 1955 bus boycott started, but she had to move to Detroit. Well, people think when she moved to Detroit, it all ended. But do you realize one thing she did, is when she made the choice to pivot, she actually had her greatest impact on the civil rights movement.
There are so many things today that are legacies of Rosa Parks that come from when she moved from Alabama to Detroit. And if she had never done that, then we wouldn't have the things that we see today, like her entire nonprofit organization that continues this legacy.
So how do you prevent burnout by focusing on happiness in your business? Understand it's okay to pivot. And when you pivot, you are not going backwards. What you're doing is moving forward and you're leaving your legacy.
I'm done! That was way too quick for me. But guess what? I am going to be back. See you tomorrow for another episode. I am here all week.
