One mystery at the heart of the Christmas story is that God comes to be with us as one of us–that is, as a human person with a body. This flies in the face of our typical assumption that ‘being spiritual’ or ‘getting closer to God’ has nothing to do with our bodies. Christmas reveals to us that God doesn’t just love our souls, but God loves our bodies as well. This has important implications for how we relate to our bodies, how we treat others, and how we experience the presence of God. We’ll explore some of these implications in today’s sermon. Join us as we wrap up our series, ‘Honest Advent.’
