With the recent rising tensions in Kosovo, Patrick MacFarlane invited me on his Vital Dissent Podcast to discuss the breakup of Yugoslavia. This is quite a complex historical event, with many complementary and contradictory narratives attributing the disintegration to internal and external factors. Was deep seated ethnic hatred to blame, or did the Slavic Union fall victim to the forces of empire?
