#56 - Beth Burns on Supporting Homeless Youth to Affirm Personal Worth and Create More Meaningful & Healthier Lives
Beth Burns, a Chicago native, moved to Portland in 1997 for its vast beauty. She worked at Sisters of the Road Café before serving as the director of the Greenhouse Learning Center, a GED based alternative school.
In 2002, she and her 2 colleagues founded p:ear, a program for homeless youth. She serves as a co-founder and Executive Director of p:ear and is incredibly grateful to spend her days with these vibrant, strong and creative young people. And after all these years, she still walks into p:ear each day with wonder and hope.
Beth, her husband, 10-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter spend their time exploring the Pacific Northwest seeking adventure in nature.
.
Additionally, I’ll be donating to and raising awareness for the charity or organization of my guest’s choice with each episode now. This episode, the organization is called p:ear. Any and all donations make a difference!
