36: Living Original: Mindset, Faith + Leading with Courage with Jen Deweerdt

We can’t talk about growth through challenge on this podcast without addressing questions of faith and belief. In this episode, Jessica shares a bit about her personal journey and shares a conversation with her friend, Pastor Jen Deweerdt. 

Jessica and Jen talk about overcoming negative thoughts in our heads so that we can live more fully. They discuss our pandemic of loneliness and how cultivating community is the antidote so many are longing for. Jessica asks Jen about the intersection of faith and culture and the trends Jen sees in her congregation and the needs of the people she serves. They discuss her upcoming Orginal Women’s Conference (April 21-22) and ministry to women. Jen shares how she and her husband, Jeremy, created Champion’s Club, a ministry for the disabled and their families, after the birth of their son. 

More than anything, this is a discussion between friends about faith and growth. They set a wide table and invite you, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey, to remember that you are loved and your life has a great purpose. 

Jen DeWeerdt serves with her husband, Jeremy, as the Senior Leaders of City First Church, a growing, multi-generational, multi-cultural church with multiple locations in IL and FL. Jen is a pastor, communicator, author, and founder of the Original Women’s Conference. 

Jen is mom to three sons, her youngest, Pax has Down Syndrome, and it’s through Pax and Jessica’s son Bodey’s early morning bus rides that Jessica and Jen became friends.
