N54: Avoiding Palliative Relief when Prescribing Acutes

Today we will look at aphorisms 54 to 59 in the Organon of Medicine, The first integral translation into English of the Sixth Edition.  These aphorisms are needed to remember that homeopathically we are always looking at the totality of symptoms and that is the only thing we prescribe on. We need to determine if this is a real acute, a first aid so to speak, and not an acute exacerbation of the chronic state. A remedy that does not cover a totality of symptoms and is only providing palliative relief will, even if homoepathic, create a secondary response around 2 weeks after taking it. There may be immediate improvement, but the chronic state will aggravate if there is not a similarity to the individual.  Even a first aid, has to take into consideration the totality of the patient, the aspects of how they are and their experience of the first aid event that has brought them in need of a remedy.  It is  not how they hurt that is important, but their response to it is specific to their mistunement.  You can have a few people involved in the same first aid event with them needing different remedies. There are polychrests that cover their symptoms in a totality, but they also need to cover the individual’s individual symptoms that are being expressed peculiar and specific to them!
