One — The head of the U.S. Border Patrol is retiring at the end of June. Raul Ortiz informed employees in a letter that he would be stepping down after 32 years with the agency. Ortiz has served as chief since August 2021 and has had to deal with numerous challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the expiration of Title 42.
Two— The fire danger in Michigan remains extreme in much of the state according to the Department of Natural Resources. That is after the 136-acre wildfire that scorched forests in Wexford County this week. The DNR says it has been as dry as ever in Michigan this early in the season.
