Episode 206 - What does it look like when you’re retired and totally addicted to mountain running?
In this episode Steve Appleby talks about his real passion for everything running and particularly mountain running. He started running back in the late 80s and hasn’t stop since, with his only real injury (a broken ankle) as a result of being hit in the head by a branch during a night run! He credits his lack of injuries to being consistent, to having recovery days and loves a bit of cold water after a hard run.
At almost 70 years old Steve credits running for his great physical and mental health - by being consistent but flexible with his running he hasn’t let it become a stressor, its just something he fits into most days. And if he can’t run he’ll do something else, like go for a walk to keep moving.
After listening to this episode it’ll be hard to not head straight out the door and up a mountain trail for a run!

Steve’s Tips - Find something thats not too hard, you don’t need to train like an elite athlete - just do it, make sure you have some rest/recovery days, find what you love about running, be consistent and follow the 10% rule.
