44: What Does It Mean To Be Hopeful? with Intensive Care Nurse + Cancer Survivor, Meena LaRonde
Meena has spent the last 27 years caring for some of the sickest children in the United States at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital. She’s a wife, mother, dear friend of many, and a breast cancer survivor. Jessica and Meena met over a decade ago when Meena was a primary nurse for Jessica’s son Ethan during his year-long hospital stay.
In this episode, Meena and Jessica discuss hope. Where can we find it? Why does it matter, and how can we find it in the midst of dire circumstances?
They settle on the idea that hope is defiance. It’s bravely facing your challenge and believing in good things despite what’s in front of us. But hope is not denial, and they discuss the idea of staying hopeful and honest at the same time.
Meena shares her perspective as a nurse, patient, and mother. Her beautiful and wise perspective invites you to face difficult circumstances and be present, grateful, and hopeful.
