Illuminating the Nuances of Red Light Therapy w/ Researcher Dr. Praveen Arany

This week on The Red Light Report, I am thrilled to welcome back the resident photobiomodulation researcher of this podcast, Dr. Praveen Arany. For you long-time listeners, you likely recognize that name from an episode last year where Dr. Arany showcased his photobiomodulation expertise as he delved into the exciting research he and his team were doing along with detailing some specifics about dosing red light therapy treatments. As a quick refresher for dedicated listeners to the podcast and for those being introduced to Dr. Arany for the first time... Dr. Praveen Arany is trained as a dentist and an oral pathologist. He completed a joint PhD-Residency program at Harvard University as a Harvard Presidential Scholar. He has two certificates in clinical translational research from Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Health. He has over 100 scientific publications with several well cited papers to his credit. A complete list of his publications on Pubmed is available here. He is a recipient of numerous awards and has been invited to speak in various national and international forums, reviews for over 50 scientific journals, serves on 9 journal editorial boards.

 

During our discussion today, Dr. Arany details the Arndt-Shultz curve (i.e., the biphasic dose response) and how the helps dictate treatment along with digging into the intricate interplay between energy, wavelength, and photons; we also touch upon essential factors such as light irradiance and the significance of third-party testing in ensuring product quality. 

 

I thoroughly appreciate Dr. Arany's depth of photobiomodulation knowledge and also admire the research he and his team conducts, which helps propel the red light therapy space forward in a positive direction.
